The San Mateo County Youth Commission gives young people a formal voice in county government. Youth commissioners advise the County on issues affecting young people and participate in civic projects throughout their term. The commission generally serves youth ages 13–21. Applications to become a commissioner are seasonal, so students should confirm the next application period on the County website. Even outside the formal commissioner application window, public participation in commission meetings and activities may be available.
